About the Event
Wassail Walks: from Friday December 15 through to Saturday Jan 6th
Nothing evokes the festive season more than a Christmas market, snow and mulled wine to keep the winter chills at bay. But did you know that mulled wine was not the hot winter drink of choice in Britain for over a thousand years? Back then, only the very wealthy had wine-based drinks; the rest of us had ale, cider and lambswool.
Join us as we carol through the medieval streets of Geddington, recreating the ancient tradition of the Wassail, sharing the Wassail bowl filled with hot mulled cider, or Lambswool, the true English drink of choice for Christmas. (There will be non-alcoholic version available). Learn some ancient drinking songs the Kings of Geddington may have sung, and sing Christmas carols for your chosen charity and (as required by Wassail tradition) wake the local apple trees!
We will be a'wassailing each weekend throughout December into January but if you have a group of 6 or more we will gladly book a date at your convenience. Email your request to toursbykam@gmail.com
